You might have a busy website with high traffic volumes. Your chat service, then, needs to ensure stability no matter how many visitors you have onsite. Enter visitor throttling.
With visitor throttling, you don’t overwhelm the system or impact the performance of your chat client – even with hundreds of concurrent users. Here’s how it works:
• You can set a limit on the maximum number of concurrent visitors for your website(s)
• Your server will automatically enable throttling when your site reaches 20% of this limit
• With throttling enabled, visitor data is queued, and new visitor popups disabled
• Rather than real-time data, visitor events are sent to clients every 8s as a single batch
• Throttling will be disabled when concurrent visitors drops back within your rules
