Parker Software Set To Take Control

Thursday 18 February 2010

Parker Software Ltd., a U.K. based software company, announced today further enhancements to its WhosOn software, which is used by thousands of businesses across the UK, Europe and the US to track and engage website visitors in real-time with live analytics and chat.

The two recent additions to the platform include a new Silverlight client and an option for full remote control and co-browse. Both developments take the software to the next level of Live Chat and further increase the software's versatility and potential reach into new markets.

Website visitors browsing a website, that has integrated WhosOn, have the option to click to chat, this starts a live one to one secure, text based chat with an operator. Existing features within WhosOn already enabled an operator the ability to push files or send web pages directly to the visitors PC. Parker Software decided to take this one stage further, giving the operator, with the website visitor's permission, the ability to not only see an end users desktop but also control it. Agents can now control the visitors mouse and keyboard and run applications as if they were sat at the visitors PC itself.

The feature is already proving popular for companies offering support based services and also with online retailers. In a support environment any visitor experiencing a service or technical issue, can start a chat with an agent, who can if required, take control of the end users PC and fix any problem quickly and easily reducing the need for email or telephone support or expensive onsite repairs. Retailers are also identifying that the use of the remote control enables them to directly help online visitors in real time through the checkout processes or with any form-filling helping to improve online conversions.

In addition to the remote control, a new version of the WhosOn Client has also been produced which utilises Microsoft's Silverlight platform. Silverlight is a powerful development platform for creating engaging, interactive user experiences for Web, desktop, and mobile applications.

The Silverlight version has enabled Parker Software to create a WhosOn client that can operate cross-browser, cross-platform and cross-device, it is anticipated to lead to an array of development opportunities for Parker Software, the first being the delivery of WhosOn directly via a web browser, which is anticipated to be extensively utilised by Mac users.

This Silverlight development is anticipated to also pave the way for Parker Software to create mobile clients of its WhosOn Software, the first of which is anticipated will be an i-Phone application, which is speculated to be released imminently.

Business Development Manager for Parker Software, Ian Rowley comments, "2010 is already proving to be an exciting year, not only are we enjoying significant growth, we also have some significant developments and enhancements planned, all of which are aimed at improving our customers online engagement strategies and perhaps more importantly helping to significantly improve their online conversions."
