WhosOn Dedicated Servers - Terms & Conditions

For larger businesses who require multiple users or who have multiple or high volume websites, a WhosOn dedicated server may offer a more cost effective solution than our regular hosted version.

This enterprise level solution includes a fully managed Windows server with WhosOn pre-installed and configured for your requirements. Your own DNS name can be registered to the server (eg chat.mycompany.com) which will show in the chat window. The chat window can be fully customized with your own text. An SSL certificate is included allowing chat sessions to run securely using a certificate registered with your company details.

Minimum Term

The minimum term for all dedicated servers is 6 months. With a 1 month cancellation notice.

Server Specification

The base specification of your server will be agreed in advance depending on your requirements. We will need an estimate of the number of visitors and/or page views that your web site(s) receive during an average month. Minimum specification will be 1GB RAM, Intel Quad Core, 80GB hard disk space, running Windows 2008 Web Edition with SQL Server 2008 Express.

Installation

Parker Software will install WhosOn on your server and provide the initial configuration. This includes 2 SSL certificates in or to provide secure live chat and monitoring of secure web pages.

Usage

The server may only be used to run WhosOn and its associated services. You must not install any other software on the server, unless agreed in advance with Parker Software.

Client Access

You can install the WhosOn Operator 'Client' application on any number of your desktop PC's. The number of Clients that can connect to your server at the same time will be agreed in advance when you purchase. This number can be increased at any time.

Administrator Access

You can access the WhosOn Administrator remotely, or via 'Remote Desktop' in order to manage your WhosOn Settings. An Administrator password will be agreed in advance.

Monitored Sites

You can use the server to monitor any number of your own web sites. If you want to use the server to provide live stats & chat services for 3rd party sites then you will need our ISP edition.

Database Size

By default the WhosOn Database size is limited to 10GB. This can be increased if required by upgrading the SQL Server database engine at extra cost.

Server Utilisation

The server should not be overloaded. Should you require the monitoring of more web sites, or your existing web site traffic grows to a level that cannot be handled by the server, then we may need to upgrade the server specification or install an additional server at extra cost.

Server Monitoring

Parker Software will monitor the server to ensure maximum up time.

Server Updates

Parker Software will keep the server updated with the latest version of WhosOn and apply operating system updates when required. Updates will be done during times of low activity when possible.

DNS Name

The DNS name you choose for your server must not contain trademarks from other organisations.

Backups

Parker Software will periodically backup your WhosOn settings. We will also show you how to obtain your own backups. Database backups can be provided if required.

Data Purging

Chat Transcripts, Call Backs, Visitor Contact information and Traffic Daily Summary data are stored indefinitely (unless the maximum database size is reached). Detailed visitor tracking data that is older than 3 months is purged daily. The age at which tracking data is purged can be adjusted in order to keep the database size below the maximum and for optimum performance.

Data Security

Data is secure with both operating system and SQL Server 2008 database level access. A strong password will be applied to the Windows Administrator user. By default, no remote access to the back end database will be available. The database server will not allow connections via TCP and this is also blocked at the firewall level. The operator 'Client' applications use a 256bit secure TCP/IP connection to the WhosOn Server itself and not the back end database. Additional security measures can be applied if required - such as data encryption.

License Agreement

Use of the WhosOn software is subject to our standard WhosOn License Agreement.
